Exploria - Mandai Wildlife Group
2026
Exploria is a large multimedia experience in the Mandai Wildlife Reserve. While I worked at CraveFX, our team worked on the lobby video (an introductory video showing visitors what to expect in and how to interact with Exploria), the visuals and interactions for the LED globe in Our Interconnected Worlds (a large central atrium at the “heart” of the world of Exploria), and the exit tunnel (where users scan their entry wristbands to get a gamified summary of their actions in the experience).
Our Interconnected Worlds
Our team worked on the globe in this section, in the intersection of all the “worlds” in Exploria. The globe has four modes - an idle mode, a lightshow, “disruptive moments”, and a secret fourth mode you may see if visiting Exploria for a special company event.
Visitors might not know this, but when there is no show playing, the globe receives live data from every world, and the colour distribution on the globe changes depending on which worlds are the most heavily populated - the higher the number of interactions in each world, the more represented the colour of the world will be on the globe.
Show modes
Every couple of hours, one of two “shows” will play - a light show “The Planet Awakens” showing the worlds in Exploria coming alive, and a “disruptive moments” show where lighting and screens in the experience will “glitch out”, and begin to flash and show videos with messaging relating to conservation.
To activate the correct light show on cue, the globe receives TCP messages from a main show controller and plays the show video on request.
Like with Singapore Odyssea, I initially was an interactive producer, handling the software development and coordination with the hardware team, with the main creative producer Natalie Ong handling the art team and most of the communications between the client and our team. In the latter half of the project, I took over the project fully, and managed the creative deliveries and client communications on top of the interactive items. The role was a challenge, and I had big shoes to fill, but the experience opened successfully, so all’s well that ends well, probably.
Over the course of this project, I:
- Oversaw budget allocation, timeline planning, and resource coordination
- Ensured alignment with client goals and technical feasibility throughout the production lifecycle
- Served as primary liaison between the client and production team
- Conducted software testing
- Coordinated with hardware engineers to align software development with physical installation requirements
- Maintained project documentation
